Kia Syros EV: A More Practical Take on the Compact Electric SUV

The Kia Syros EV brings an electric powertrain to Kia's compact SUV formula, combining the model's upright proportions and spacious cabin with a 42 kWh or 51.4 kWh battery. With prices starting at ₹13.49 lakh and extending to ₹19.99 lakh ex-showroom, the Syros EV is positioned as a premium alternative to mainstream electric SUVs such as the Tata Nexon EV and MG Windsor EV.

What makes the Syros EV particularly interesting is that Kia has not treated it simply as a conventional petrol car converted into an EV. The electric version gets several changes aimed at improving efficiency, packaging, charging convenience and the overall driving experience.

The result is an EV that focuses more on space, comfort and technology than outright sporty handling.

Battery, Power and Range

Kia offers the Syros EV with two battery configurations.

The 526 km figure is an official certified number and should not be interpreted as a guaranteed everyday driving range.

Independent testing has shown that driving style, traffic, acceleration and highway speeds can have a noticeable effect on energy consumption. In one media-drive test, approximately 70 km was covered while the car displayed an efficiency figure of around 7.4 km/kWh.

For an EV buyer, this means the 526 km figure is best used as a benchmark, rather than a promise of how far the vehicle will travel in every situation.
